MBU String Ensemble
The MBU String Ensemble, under the direction of Michael Dunsmoor, is the newest instrumental ensemble at MBU. This group performs a broad range of literature for stringed instruments (violin, viola, cello, bass). While it is possible for students to take this ensemble for credit, this performing group is also open to all MBU faculty/staff and members of the community. MOZART'S REQUIEM
For our Spring Concert, under the direction of Dr. Larry Smith, we will join the MBU Chorale and Choral Society to perform Mozart's Requiem. The concert date is set for Friday, April 20, 2012 at 7:30 p.m.
DIRECTOR MICHAEL B. DUNSMOOR
Michael B. Dunsmoor is active in many areas of music such as conducting, composing, performing, and teaching. He also works as a freelance arranger, copyist, and orchestrator for several composers, orchestras and other organizations. As a conductor, Mr. Dunsmoor has worked with many ensembles on the East Coast and in the Midwest, including elementary grade strings classes, high school musical productions, and collegiate and semi-professional symphonic orchestras. His compositions have been performed by the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra, St. Louis Young People's Symphonic Orchestra, and various ensembles at Missouri State University, Berklee College of Music, Webster University and Manchester United Methodist Church. As a performer, he is involved with several local groups and also leads a string quartet (The Old Orchard Ensemble). The majority of his performance experience has been in Boston, Massachusetts; Los Angeles, California; and St. Louis, Missouri on bass guitar, trombone, violin, and viola. Mr. Dunsmoor currently lives in St. Louis, Mo. with his wife (Susan), son (Peter), and dog (Maple). Previous mentors and instructors include Dr. Paul Davis, Robert Chamberlain, Richard Davis, Mark Gurevich, Steve Lange, Kevin McBeth, and George Monseur.
