Spartan Volleyball knocks off Eagles, advance in NAIA Nationals

St. Louis, Mo. - Missouri Baptist University women's volleyball claimed its first victory of the NAIA National Championship Tournament on Saturday, defeating the Robert Morris University Eagles in straight sets.
The Spartans entered the tournament Ranked. No. 15 in the nation and the winners of the American Midwest Conference Tournament.
Spartan senior Lauren Stuckel led all players with a .556 hitting percentage and 31 assists. The AMC newcommer of the year was on fire in the match, along with MBU seniors Casey Chernin and Lucy Ford.
Chernin, one of the elite outside hitters in the NAIA, led all players with 12 kills. Ford, along with Megan Moore, were also at the top of their game. The seniors combined for 17 kills and both had hitting percentages just above .450.
Missouri Baptist will travel to Sioux City, Iowa for the remainder of the NAIA Volleyball National Championships. The tournament is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, Nov. 30 with pool play.
