President Lacey presents gift to Albert Pujols at pre-game ceremony

Dr. Alton Lacey, Missouri Baptist University president, presented Albert Pujols a $9,000 check at Busch Stadium before the Cardinals-Braves game Sept. 9.
The gift, which will benefit The Pujols Family Foundation, was the result of funds raised at this year's MBU Health and Sport Sciences Golf Tournament.
"The opportunity for Missouri Baptist University to assist Albert and Deidre Pujols in their work in St. Louis and the Dominican Republic is an honor," Lacey said. "The Pujols Foundation has helped improve the quality of lives for a countless number of people throughout the world."
Pujols' Foundation, founded by Pujols and his wife, Deidre, exists to to help those living with Down syndrome in St. Louis and improve the lives of the impoverished in the Dominican Republic. MBU’s Health and Sport Sciences Division is committed to promoting intellectual, spiritual and professional development, striving to enhance the quality of life through the advancement of knowledge in health, sport management and human performance.
MBU sold hundreds of Cardinals' tickets for Missouri Baptist University's annual Night at the Ballpark. Prior to the game, Dr. Andy Chambers, MBU senior vice president for student development, threw out the ceremonial first pitch.
