Choral Ensembles

Members of the Chorale and Choral Society have toured overseas on two occasions. In 2002 they traveled to Venice, Italy and the Austrian cities of Salzburg and Vienna. In 2005 the groups performed in Prague, Vienna, and other sites in central Europe, including a celebration of the 50th anniversary of Austrian independence.

choral11  The MBU Chorale has the longest history of any performing group at       MBU. The Chorale specializes in sacred music and large-scale choral     works from all historical periods and all styles. Students with a musical    background are encouraged to join this choir, which is the largest of the    choral ensembles at MBU. The Chorale performs in churches around the    St. Louis area and combines with the Choral Society for one major concert at the end of each semester.

The Chamber Singers perform regularly in schools and churches throughout the Midwest . Each year the Chamber Singers conduct a concert tour in conjunction with Allusion and In Charactre, performing sacred and secular choral music of every style and genre. Chamber Singers also contribute to local church concerts with the MBU Chorale and MBU Ringers.

Open to all MBU students without audition and members of the community, age 16 and over.

The Choral Society rehearses once a week during the school year and performs once each semester with the Chorale. Choral Society does not count as a major ensemble credit for music majors or minors.
