Mission Statement - The Division of Health and Sport Sciences at Missouri Baptist University is committed to promoting intellectual, spiritual and professional development, striving to enhance the quality of life through the advancement of knowledge in health, sport management and human performance, and forming responsive, and collaborative relationships with faculty, staff, students, alumni, schools, and business and industry leaders.

Meet the HSS faculty.

The mission of the Sport Management Program Review Council (SMPRC) is to establish program standards and to conduct the program review process for institutions seeking approval of sport management programs at bachelors, masters, and/or doctoral levels.  The SMPRC announced in the summer of 2005 that MBU was in full compliance with its sport management program standards.

All necessary accreditation standards mandated by the CoAES were met in the fall of 2008.  The exercise science program was subsequently accredited by the CAAHEP in the summer of 2009, one of only 18 programs nationally to have earned this accreditation and acclaim.  Recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), the Commission of Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) is the larges programmatic accreditor in the health sciences field.  The Committee on Accreditation for the Exercise Sciences (CoAES) falls under the auspices of the CAAHEP. The primary role of the CoAES is to establish standards and guidelines for academic programs that facilitate the preparation of students seeking employment in the health, fitness, and exercise industry.  The secondary role of the CoAES is to establish and implement a process of self-study, review, and recommendation for all programs seeking CAAHEP accreditation.  Programmatic accreditation through CAAHEP is specifically intended for Exercise Science with a professional preparation tract designed for students seeking employment opportunities in the health, fitness, and exercise industry.
