Healthy Hour

Mission

The purpose of the “Healthy Hour” program at MBU is to provide faculty and staff information on maintaining a physically healthy lifestyle so that they may personally use that information to their advantage. MBU would like to provide a fun, non-threatening, supportive environment to help our faculty/staff reach their physical goals.

Spring Session Dates

Feb. 10 - May 12

Ways to Participate

University employees can either join a team of five and participate through the Go the Distance Club, or they can participate independently.

Measuring Success

Success of individual participants is measured based on the percentage of total weight loss.

Success of team participants is measured based on the following scale:

Exercise 1 point for every 15 minutes of exercise up to a maximum of 15 points per week per person
Attending monthly Healthy Hour meetings 30 points
1% of team weight loss 100 points
Active CPR/AED Certification* 25 points
Active First Aid Certification* 15 points
Keep daily food journal 50 points per month
Reach My Goal 25 points each or 100 for all three goals

*For information on the certification process, e-mail Susan Rutledge.

Tracking Your Team's Success

Each team should select a team leader who will submit weekly tracking reports to Susan Rutledge, Healthy Hour coordinator. Team reports are cumulative results, for each member, for one week of participation. Reports are e-mailed on Wednesday. They record results from Wednesday - Tuesday of the proceeding week. Each team member is to report individual results through their team leader.

Rewarding Success

First Place - The team with the highest number of cumulative points as of May 12, 2010 will receive $500 ($100 per participant).

Second Place - The team with the second highest number of points will receive a $50 gift card to Whole Foods for each member.

Individual Weight Loss Winner - The individual participant with the highest percentage of weight loss will receive $100.
