Health Sciences
The mission of the Health Sciences program at Missouri Baptist University is to provide a high-quality, student centered learning environment for undergraduate education in the health and exercise science professions. The goal of the Health Science program is to develop professionals who promote and support creative and healthy lifestyles that positively influence the health and well-being of all individuals. The Health Sciences program is designed to advance the body of knowledge in our field, develop future professionals, provide opportunities for intellectual and professional growth and development, and prepare students for graduate studies.

Students who major in health science typically pursue careers in: (1) allied sport health, including corporate fitness and exercise science/technology; and (2) management in corporate or private fitness centers, recreation facilities, or sports organizations. Students choosing to a graduate education will typically pursue a degree in exercise science, allied health, athletic training, sport management, or kinesiology.
All students who complete the health science undergraduate program should be able to:
- work productively as individuals and in groups
- demonstrate expertise in health science and understand that discipline in relation to the larger world of the arts, sciences, and technology
- demonstrate an understanding of musculoskeletal anatomy.
- demonstrate knowledge of exercise physiology including muscle physiology, cardiovascular physiology, and respiratory physiology.
- demonstrate the ability to conduct safe and effective fitness tests and health risk appraisals.
- demonstrate knowledge of and skills required for basic emergency procedures and first aid.
- recommend appropriate exercise programming guidelines for normal and special populations.
- demonstrate the ability to develop safe and effective exercise programs for normal & special populations.
