Grade Policy for Graduate Students
A master's student may receive C's in only two courses. A student who receives more than two C's will be asked to withdraw from his/her program of study. Courses with a grade of C may be repeated only one time. Repeated classes are counted toward the total number of C's that may be earned. Both grades will be reflected on the student's transcript.
A specialist student may receive a C in only one course. A student who receives more than one C will be asked to withdraw from his/her program of study. A course with a grade of C may be repeated only one time. A repeated class is counted toward the total number of C's that may be earned. Both grades will be reflected on the student's transcript.
A doctoral student is not allowed to receive a grade lower than B in his/her coursework. A student who receives a grade lower than B will be asked to withdraw from the doctoral program. Courses with a grade of B may be repeated only one time. Repeated classes are counted toward the total number of B's that may be earned. Both grades will be reflected on the student's transcript. If a doctoral student earns more than two B's, his/her GPA will fall below the required 3.70 GPA.
A student who receives a grade of XF or F in any class will be asked to withdraw from his/her graduate program.
The University has an appeals process that may be discussed with a graduate advisor if desired. Students have thirty days from the date grades are issued to initiate the appeals process.
When grades are reported at the conclusion of the grading period, a student who does not meet university standards will be dropped from any additional classes for which he/she is registered.
If a student decides not to attend a class for which he/she is registered, it is the student's responsibility to submit a completed and signed schedule adjustment form to drop the class. If this form is not submitted, a grade of XF will be recorded, therefore, jeopardizing the student's standing in the graduate program.
