Group Fitness Room (GFR) Guidelines

  1. Please do not enter the group fitness room until an instructor or SRC staff member is present.
  2. Participants arriving late will be admitted at the instructor’s discretion. 
  3. Instructors will not register participants or accept payment for class sessions.  This MUST be done in person at the Fitness Center desk. 
  4. Personal belongings should be stored in the labeled mirrored cabinets inside the GFR or in a locker in the Fitness Center locker rooms.  Locks are available for check-out at the FC desk with a valid MBU ID. 
  5. Please use the disinfectant wipes provided to wipe down mats and fitness balls after class.
  6. Comfortable clothes that allow for freedom of movement are suggested and no bare midriffs allowed.  Males must keep a shirt on at all times.   
  7. Closed-toe, aerobic or cross-trainer shoes with good arch support, flexible soles, and cushioning are recommended.  Non-black soles only. 

Tips

  • Bring a water bottle and a towel with you to class to minimize entrance/exit distractions.
  • Work at your own pace!  Slow down if you need to, walking slowly or resting until you are able to rejoin the class.  If you feel faint or lightheaded, STOP exercising. 
  • Avoid large meals before coming to class and stay hydrated before, during, and after class.
  • If something hurts, STOP doing the exercise and see your instructor after class for suggestions.
  • Exercise a minimum of three times a week to allow for maximum benefit.
